Member Spotlight 2018 | Movember Edition: Gil Rodis

In an effort to highlight and bring more awareness to Men’s Health for Movember, we wanted to spotlight a few of our Reign Men this month…

…to help us get to know the individuals that make up our community better.

***If you haven’t checked out what Reign Fitness is doing for Movember take a quick second to read through the post below…

Ok…

Now onto the Member Spotlight and Gil Rodis! He's one of the kindest human beings I've ever met and is always there to lend a helping hand.

He's always got your back no matter one and is constantly supporting others through their health & fitness journey.

Name: Gilfred Rodis

Age:29

Occupation: Nutrition Services at Seattle Children’s Hospital

1. What (who) brought you to Reign?

My wife Nicole brought me to an event at the old location when at the time, I was too shy to go in and watch her workout. But she finally convinced me to go in after the workout and grab some pizza and beer just to hang out for a little bit.

And the rest is history. Well after seeing her transformation also helped me get back into the gym as well.

2. What made you decide to participate in 'Movember?'

Last year I did it and I just wanted to do it again this year. And it’s a good excuse not to shave for a month lol.

3. What is the most significant change - whether social, physical, mental…you have experienced since you have been here?

The most significant change was getting in the habit of eating better and staying in shape. When I first started, I remember there were push-ups and I couldn’t even do 4 straight.

It made me realize that how bad out of shape I was and I had to do something about it.

4. Tell us a little about yourself. What's a Day In The Life of Gil?

I am the middle child of three boys. I got my name from a combination of my mom and dad’s name. (Gilma & Godofredo). I have a DVT in my left leg and that’s why you see me wearing a compression sleeve all the time.

Pretty much my whole day consist of working, going to the gym, playing with Porkchop our corgi, spending time with the wife and repeat.

5. Share your favorite memory so far at Reign.

My favorite memory so far had to be my first small group workout.

That workout kicked my butt!

I remember laying on the floor for so long that I thought I wouldn’t be able to stand for the rest of the week. Ever since then I was hooked on bettering myself.

6. What are your goals or aspirations leading into the New Year?

My goals for next year is to stay consistent with eating better food and trusting the process. I tend to get caught up with so many things that I forget to take care of myself.

7. First CD you bought & Favorite Movie of all time...

50 Cent 'Get Rich or Die Tryin’

Gone in 60 Seconds

8. What are your hobbies outside of Reign?

Spending time with Porkchop and Nicole.

Playing video games whenever I get a chance. Hanging out with good friends. But the main one is to just relax and do nothing and enjoying life because it’s too short.

9. Who is your hero and why?

My hero is anybody that helps you better yourself. I say this because for me I have so many people that influence me to better myself teaching me what they have learned throughout their life, what they experienced and what they did differently to change whatever they did to have a better outcome.

I’ve learned a lot but I’m still learning more.

10. If you could have dinner with any three people in the world, who would it be and why?

First one would be my mom. I would do anything in the world to see her again, hear her voice, give her a big hug, tell her I love her so many times and just to hang out with her and just get more advice about life and growing up.

Second person would be my grandmother because I really miss her cooking and her laugh.

Third person would be Dwayne The Rock Johnson. When I was little he was my favorite wrestler and the amount of food he eats is crazy! Would be interesting on how much food he eats in person lol.

11. What advice would you give to anyone including men looking to start their fitness journey?

Just do it! What Nike says haha.

But to be serious life is too short and you’ll never know what will happen the next day or week or months. Get out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to become a better you. Only you can push yourself.
