Meet Reign's New Coaching Intern | Erica H.

Reign Fitness is excited to announce our newest Coaching Intern, Erica Horne!

She's been a regular in both ReignFIT and Barbell classes, always brings a positive energy to the gym, and for sure is putting in work when training.

We couldn't be more excited to bring on a new team member especially one that exhibits all of the characteristics we look for in a future...

Humble, Motivated, and People Smart/Focused.

Please congratulate and welcome her the next time you see her which very well might be assisting in a class!

Okay, here is a little bit about Erica!

1. Tell us a little about yourself?

I am an electrician by trade. I grew up playing sports such as soccer and rugby but have “retired” from those sports and picked up fighting. My favorite fight style is MMA, but I’ll take anything at this point. I have 3 cats, recently losing my dog to old age. He was the sweetest old man, and I miss him every day. My wife and I moved to Renton about 2 years ago from Seattle. I adopted my son when he was three years old and now, he is a freshman in high school!

2. What made you want to coach, lead, and be a part of the Reign Community?

I have always liked sharing my passion with others and after having so many positive coaches in my life, from my rugby days, to fighting, and now at Reign, when presented with the opportunity to learn more about coaching, I wanted to be a part of the process.

3. Favorite cheat meal?

Tacos. Mexican street tacos, taco bell, homemade… any taco. Taco bout a good meal…

4. What kind of impact do you hope to make here at Reign?

I hope to continue the legacy of inspiring others on their fitness journey. Whether that is hitting a P.R., obtaining a body goal, or simply being active. Fitness is a personal journey and I want to support others on their journey whatever that may be.

5. What are your goals or aspirations for 2020/2021?

In the remaining months of 2020 and into 2021, I hope to survive…. Jokes aside, I would like to personally maintain a fight ready body and be able to get a fight! COVID has really interrupted that goal. Personally, I would just like to be happy and healthy.

6. First CD you bought & Favorite Movie of all time...

My first CD purchase was Paula Abdul and this may not be my favorite movie of all time, but I could watch the Harry Potter franchise over and over again.

7. What are your hobbies outside of the Fitness?

I like to fight, build Legos, and adventure with my wife. We are currently converting a van for extended road trips journeys.

8. What's your spirit animal?

I actually went on a spirit quest when I was younger, so I legit have one. It is a Bear, it came to me in a dream. We would need some heavy drinking to explain that process.

9. Life words of wisdom or favorite quote? How has it influenced your life?

“Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing”- Me. It’s along the same lines of “measure twice”.

I like to be thorough in my understanding of a subject before I undertake it.

10. What advice would you give to anyone looking to start their fitness journey?

Start small and do something you know you like. Don’t make an unattainable goal. Make a small goal and achieve it, then build on that.

11. One interesting fact about yourself?

I road cross country on my motorcycle once.

12. Share one training or nutrition strategy that needs to be in everyone's toolbox.

Drink more water. Then drink some more.

13. Who do you look up to and why?

My mother because she is the best person in the entire world. No explanation needed!

14. Favorite memory in the last 5 years?

My wife is glaring at me so I should say “marrying my wife”, close second is taking my mother to Scotland (our family roots) for her 60th birthday.

15. Favorite exercise? Why?

Hitting a punching bag for cardio because its always fun to work out aggression that way. Strength wise it is dead lifts. I feel so powerful with that movement.

16. What are you most excited about joining the Reign Team and Reign Fitness Community?

Being surrounded by a positive community and contributing to that in a proactive way.

17. Who's the type of individual you hope to lead in fitness?

Anyone who is willing to commit to their goals who might have been nervous about entering a “crossfit” gym. I hope to make people feel comfortable so they continue on their path to fitness.
