Here is Marisa...

Name: Marisa Ranola

Age: 44- but not for much longer

Occupation: CFO of Ranola household, but RJ may argue that one

1. What (who) brought you to Reign? How long have you been training with Reign?

I found Reign online when we moved to the Renton area. I was looking for a gym for our

children, and Eden, our middle daughter, was the first one to sign up when kids’ classes were

I would watch her work hard and knew I wanted to do it too, so I signed myself up. I

have been training with Reign for about 3 years.

2. What is the most significant change - whether social, physical, mental…you have experienced since you have been here?

My mindset about lifting weights has changed.

Yes, I have done dumbbell work in the past but never touched a barbell before joining Reign. I was intimidated of barbell work, but I have learned that sometimes it is more of a mental to push to get over my fear than physical.

3. Tell us a little about yourself. What's a Day In The Life of Marisa?

I wake up and workout (usually weight training and cardio), get the kids off to school, housework, midday meditation (helps me slow life down and just be with my thoughts and also work on breathing exercises), in the late afternoon/evening I try to take a hot yoga class (feels amazing after lifting in the morning and speeds up my recovery with deep stretching), cook dinner, and family time in between driving the kids to their activities, hang out with RJ as soon as the kids are in bed, and crash around 11 PM.

4. Share your favorite memory so far at Reign?

I never thought I would join any kind of challenge for a gym, but I did! What a fun experience to do max

burpees in unison for 5 minutes with Amaris Bautista, Jessica Young, and Vicky Young.

5. What are your goals or aspirations for next year? (2022)

My ultimate goal is to find balance in my life with time to work out, daily chores, and spending time with my family.

Another goal is to work hard and have fun with my new career in the health industry.

I am hoping to have my healthiest year yet…

6. First CD you bought & Favorite Movie of all time...

My first CD??? Wow…That was a LONG time ago!!! My memory is failing me, but I think it was Kiss Me

Kiss Me Kiss Me by the Cure

Favorite Movie of all time= The Outsiders

7. What are your hobbies outside of Reign?

Yoga and reading

8. What's your spirit animal?

Mama Bear-I am VERY protective of my family and if anyone has a problem with them I usually have

something to say to them…I may come in a small package but according to my children, I am scary!

9. Life words of wisdom you have for Teens? 20 year olds? 30 year olds? (We'll stop there.)

Teens- Slowly is the fastest way to get where you want to be

20-year-olds- Surround yourself with people whose eyes light up when they see you coming

30-year-olds- The top of one mountain is the bottom of the next, so keep climbing

10. What advice would you give to anyone looking to start their fitness journey?

Now is the perfect time to start and enjoy the journey!

Don’t put it off any longer!

11. One interesting fact about yourself? Please elaborate if it needs more elaboration.

When I was younger, I was painfully shy that I didn’t want to talk-EVER. I couldn’t even order my own food at a restaurant until high school. My sister would always do the talking for me and when she left home to go to college, I didn’t have much of a choice. I found my voice and apparently am making up for lost time since I seem to talk nonstop now.

12. Share a training or nutrition strategy that is vital in your toolbox.

Consistency is the key…

Try to keep a regular exercise schedule and hold yourself accountable. I prefer working out first thing in the morning to make sure I have no excuse about not having enough time to “fit it in”.

13. Can you share one of your favorite recipes?

Being a mom of 3 and always having to drive someone somewhere, I use the slow cooker quite a bit

Curried Apple Chicken

6 boneless, skinless chicken breast cut into bite size pieces

1 ½ cups plain croutons

½ cup apple juice

1 tsp salt

1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

½ cup celery, sliced

½ cup raisins

1 large cooking apple, chopped

½ cup onion, chopped

2 tsp brown sugar

2 tsp curry powder

Place chicken in your slow cooker. Combine the remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl and spoon over the chicken

breast. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. Makes 6 servings

Fill In The Blank...

I’s adventures and where it has taken me to this point.

I Am...who I am which is different to each person who sees me through their eyes…so you tell me, who

do you think I am?

I children and husband could see themselves through my eyes to know how much I love and

adore them

I Eat…a lot!
